TARRYTOWN – Installation of the steel girders that will support the deck of the new Tappan Zee Bridge, in progress since June from the Rockland County side, will now start from the Westchester side. The New York State Thruway Authority said its contractor, Tappan Zee Constructors, will spend the next three months installing a trio of girders between the new bridge's abutment on land to the first support pier in the river – and over Metro-North's Hudson line.
