As Flag Day approaches on Tuesday, June 14, a group of nonprofits is collecting old U.S. flags for a project to benefit veterans. The Stars for Our Troops project, run by the Major Stuart Adam Wolfer Institute , "respectfully" cuts the stars from old flags to gives them to veterans and active members of the armed services as "special recognition for what they do or have done for our country."
