The region's recent stretch of sunny weather will end as rain returns early Friday and thunderstorms roll in later in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The rain really gets going late Friday afternoon while temperatures soar into the upper 70s with thunderstorms likely afte 4 p.m. The National Weather Service issued its latest Red Flag alert on Thursday based on dry and windy conditions in the region.
