Timing is everything and that was certainly the case with a quick-moving Alberta Clipper system that moved through the area overnight into the Thursday morning commute. Though most of the area saw a coating to about an inch or so of accumulation, there were numerous motor-vehicle crashes beginning just before dawn when a jackknifed tractor-trailer led to the closure at the start of the span of the new Tappan Zee Bridge in Tarrytown.
